His mother was Yuhwa, the daughter of the river god Habaek, and his father was Haemosu, a divine figure from the heavens. Jumong was born with extraordinary talents, but his life was fraught with challenges and obstacles.
Jumong was born in a small tribe, and his birth was considered a blessing from the gods. Yuhwa had dreamt of the sun god’s light shining upon her, predicting that she would give birth to a great king. However, this prophecy also sparked jealousy and fear among some in the tribe, who worried that Jumong would threaten their power.
As Jumong grew up, he exhibited remarkable intelligence and strength. He excelled in archery and had a deep understanding of nature. When he hunted in the forest, animals seemed to sense his presence and stayed away. He had a close relationship with his mother, Yuhwa, whom he respectfully called “Mother Goddess.” Yuhwa often taught him how to face life’s difficulties and challenges.
However, Jumong’s journey was not smooth. Some people in the tribe began to envy his talents and even plotted to harm him. Once, while hunting, Jumong was ambushed. Although he escaped with his extraordinary archery skills, he realized he needed to leave the tribe and find his destiny.
With his mother’s help and guidance, Jumong embarked on a journey away from his homeland. He traversed dense forests, crossed raging rivers, and faced countless hardships. During his travels, he met many like-minded friends who later became his loyal followers.
Once, Jumong and his companions arrived at a wide river. The water was turbulent, making it impossible to cross. As everyone was in a dilemma, Jumong noticed a group of fish and turtles seeming to respond to his plea. Jumong sincerely prayed for divine help to overcome the obstacle. Miraculously, the fish and turtles gathered to form a natural bridge. Jumong led everyone across the river safely, further strengthening his resolve.
After a long journey, Jumong finally arrived at a picturesque place with clear mountains, lush waters, and fertile land suitable for establishing a new kingdom. Jumong decided to build his kingdom there and named it Goguryeo. His companions, loyal and dedicated, contributed to the construction of the new nation.
The establishment of Goguryeo was not without difficulties. In the early days, Jumong faced numerous internal and external challenges. Surrounding tribes and nations, unwilling to see a powerful new state rise, launched attacks. Jumong displayed exceptional military skills, cleverly using terrain and tactics to repel the enemies repeatedly, safeguarding the kingdom.
In a decisive battle, Jumong led Goguryeo warriors in a fierce fight against formidable foes. The battle was extremely tough, with the enemy having superior numbers and equipment. However, Jumong did not give up. He encouraged his soldiers to stay confident and personally led the charge. Under his heroic leadership, Goguryeo’s army ultimately achieved victory. This victory not only solidified Goguryeo’s position but also spread Jumong’s fame throughout Northeast Asia.
Jumong was not only a great military leader but also a wise ruler. He valued agriculture and craftsmanship, encouraging people to cultivate the land, plant crops, and improve their living standards. He also implemented a series of laws and systems to ensure social stability and fairness. Jumong earned the people’s love and was revered as the “Father of Goguryeo.”
Throughout Goguryeo’s founding process, Jumong’s mother, Yuhwa, remained his strong support. She not only provided him with endless care and support in life but also gave him strength and encouragement spiritually. Yuhwa often told Jumong, “You are destined by the heavens.
